"Meet me at AJ's" is what we always tell people visiting to the area. It's the place to meet on the harbor, get a cocktail, watch the fleet come in with their catch, and even catch your own sunset. And if you come there after dark you will enjoy dinner and live music on the deck. Locals love it and you will too.

 

Callahan's Restaurant & Deli Destin, FL 32541 A Destin restaurant that has been serving comfort food in big portions for years. I have loved the meatloaf with mashed potatoes or pork plates but I never have room left for dessert.

 

Camille's ~ 2931 Scenic Highway 98, Destin, FL 32541 ~ (850) 337-8860 Great little place for tasty entrees as well as some of the best sushi in town. Bring a date and get-a-way from the touristy joints. If you like Harbor Docks or Darma Blue you will like this one too.

 

Captain D's Seafood ~ 19 Miracle Strip Pkwy SW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548 (850) 244-3656 Sure it's a chain restaurant but when you want some shrimp and more I go here. I love the malt vinegar on my fish because it reminds me of fish n chips from Canada. Also it's very affordable and fried... lol

 

Ciao Bella Pizza ~ 29 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541 ~ (850) 654-9815

There are a few locations around town but owned by different people. All of the food is consistantly good. I love their thin crust pizzas and usually start with some fried calamari with sweet tea.

 

Cuvee Bistro ~ 36120 Emerald Coast Pkwy, Destin, FL 32541 ~ (850) 650-8900 Don't miss the happy hour specials here with great deals on martinis and appetizers from 5-7pm. The crowd is a little bit older but still up for a good time. Great food and live music.

 

Donut Hole ~ 635 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541 (850) 837-8824 Another one of the Destin originals. Go for breakfast with donuts or eggs and stuff. Lunch and dinner meals are good too. Come early because during the season there may be a wait.

Fat Daddy's Pizza ~ 4942 US Highway 98 W # 18, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459 (850) 267-4992 You may have already read about this place in the stuffed section. All you can eat lunch buffet is when you will find me here. They also have the best beer prices in South Walton.

Back in 1979, Harbor Docks was just a weather-beaten little cottage with six picnic tables, one bathroom, and an ancient old dog named Raspberry who laid out on the porch all day thumping his tail at the folks who wandered up for a few ice cold beers and oysters on the half shell.  Harbor Docks was nothing fancy back then, and things haven’t changed much.

Some of the tastiest bbq in the area, pork, beef, and chicken. Taco Tuesday's have become a favorite of the locals where you can get a taco with lettuce, tomato, cheese, lime and either pork or chicken for a few bucks.

This is the place for Mexican food. It is not fast food but good for that will have you wanting more. The spinach caso dip is worth the trip alone, add a margarita and call it a day.

The same owners as the Red Bar in Grayton Louis Louis is becoming another favorite. Just like the Red Bar as far as limited number of nightly chalkboard entrees but you will find one to make you happy... enjoy.

Mc Guire's Irish Pub ~ (850) 650-0000 It doesn't matter if you are not Irish because once you walk inside you become Irish. Brewed beers inhouse, live music nights, great comfort food, and you can even kiss the moose if you desire. St. Patrick's Day is packed here every year and a party that might take months to recover from.

Ordering delivery to your condo works but they have a $5.99 buffet Monday thru Friday from 11-1pm is well worth the price. They have a small salad bar some you can think you are eating heathly while devowering pizza.

It used to be a little local secret but after time the visitors have found it and they keep coming back for more. Chalk board entrees to choose from usually about five of them and full bar or dessert completes your visit.

It's prepared table side, good for you, and low calorie... okay it's prepared table side. But it is sooooo good and the person you share it with will be impressed and the banana is good for you right?
